Application examples of photovoltaic EVA hot melt adhesive film for rooftop power stations

EVA hot melt adhesive film is a key material for photovoltaic module packaging and has been successfully used in rooftop power stations. Take a residential rooftop distributed power station in East China as an example. The project has an installed capacity of about 10 kilowatts and the components are encapsulated with high-transmission EVA film. The adhesive film is heated and melted during the lamination process and undergoes a cross-linking reaction, firmly bonding the cells to the tempered glass and backplane. The visible light transmittance exceeds 90%, effectively ensuring the power generation efficiency of the module. Tests after three years of operation of the power station showed that the power attenuation of the modules was controlled within 3%, and there were no defects such as delamination, yellowing, or bubbles in the packaging layer, reflecting the good weather resistance and bonding stability of the adhesive film.

Another typical case is located on the roof of an industrial park in South China, with an installed capacity of about two megawatts. There is a large temperature difference between day and night on the roof. In summer, the surface temperature of components can reach over 60 degrees Celsius, making the environment hot and humid. This project uses an EVA film that resists potential induced attenuation, and controls the cross-linking degree within a reasonable range, so that the packaging structure maintains a high peel strength under high temperature and high humidity conditions. The annual power generation of the module deviates from the design value by less than 2%, and the long-term operational reliability has been fully verified.

In household slope roof power stations, the EVA film also shows good processing adaptability. The lamination temperature is about 145 degrees Celsius and can be fully melted and solidified. It forms a dense bond with the glass and back plate. The production efficiency is stable and the yield is high. Taken together, EVA hot-melt adhesive film provides an important guarantee for rooftop photovoltaic power stations to achieve a service life of more than 25 years with its excellent optical properties, bonding strength, electrical insulation and aging resistance. As the demand for double-glass modules and lightweight roofs grows, EVA and POE co-extruded films will also gain wider application space in rooftop power station scenarios.
